Bellevue celebrates new public art additions with artist reception

Bellevue has bolstered its public art collection by adding 15 new artworks, selected from a pool of over 200 submissions from local artists. This initiative highlights the city's ongoing support for local artistry and cultural richness. A free reception will be held on July 9 at City Hall to celebrate the new acquisitions, featuring live music by cellist Gretchen Yanover and remarks from city leaders. The newly acquired two-dimensional paintings are currently displayed on the second floor of City Hall as part of the Portable Artworks collection. This collection is designed for rotating displays throughout Bellevue’s public spaces, including libraries and city buildings. The vision of the Public Art Collection is to enhance public spaces and foster community pride by showcasing diverse identities and cultures. Since 2020, the Arts Commission has added 65 new works to the portable collection, with calls for submissions occurring roughly every two years. These additions serve as a vital resource for cultural exchange, enriching Bellevue’s community identity.
