Bellevue Farmers Market Celebrates 20 Years

The Bellevue Farmers Market is set to celebrate its 20th anniversary on May 18, 2023, with festivities starting at 3 p.m. at the Bellevue Presbyterian Church. Operating every Thursday until October 19, the market will feature over 50 rotating vendors offering a wide variety of seasonal fruits, vegetables, and artisan foods. Marketing director Liz Paruchuru highlights the importance of tailoring vendor selections to meet community preferences. Among its community-focused initiatives, the POP Club empowers children to make informed food choices, while the SNAP Market Match program assists low-income families in accessing fresh produce. Paruchuru notes that the market is a grassroots effort supported by a small staff and numerous volunteers, emphasizing its community-driven mission. The season opener will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, giveaways, and live music, creating a lively atmosphere. Additionally, the market hosts a monthly event in The Spring District, making it a vital hub for promoting local agriculture and fostering community connections.
