Recap Toast to Downtown's Future at the BDA 49th Annual Celebration

The Bellevue Downtown Association (BDA) celebrated its 49th Annual Celebration on February 9, 2023, bringing together over 400 business and community leaders. The keynote conversation featured Jennifer Vey and Nate Storring, who challenged conventional urban aesthetics by advocating for a 'strategically messy' approach to enhance Downtown Bellevue's liveliness. Storring's remark, 'Clean and safe is overrated,' encapsulated the evening's focus on inclusivity and innovation in placemaking. The event honored Ross Jacobson with the John Boespflug City Builder Award for his significant contributions to the community. Additionally, the #HeartofBellevue initiative was introduced to promote local businesses and share inspiring community stories that highlight human connections. Attendees were encouraged to submit their narratives to foster a vibrant urban atmosphere. The celebration underscored the importance of community engagement in shaping a thriving downtown and invited participants to save the date for the upcoming 50th Annual Celebration next year.
