New Artwork at Bellevue Downtown Park Set To Unveil This Year

Bellevue Downtown Park is set to unveil an impressive 23-foot art installation by renowned architectural artist Marc Fornes, founder of THEVERYMANY. This ambitious sculpture, made up of 6,665 individual aluminum components, will create a dynamic visual experience with its organic shapes and interplay of light and color. The installation signifies the completion of the Park’s Northwest Gateway construction project, enhancing the cultural fabric of Downtown Bellevue. Arts Community Manager Lorie Hoffman emphasizes the importance of public art in fostering community engagement and identity, stating that this sculpture will serve as a gathering place and wayfinding marker for residents. Bellevue boasts 123 artworks, with 25 owned by the city, reflecting a strong commitment to integrating art into public spaces. Despite delays due to the pandemic, the project is now on track for completion in the next six to eight weeks, further contributing to the Grand Connection, a 1.5-mile pedestrian corridor linking various parts of the city. This sculpture is poised to become a jewel in Bellevue's vibrant art landscape.
