Expanded Outdoor Dining Is Back in Downtown Bellevue

Downtown Bellevue's 'Al Fresco' outdoor dining program is back for its third summer, running from May to mid-September 2022. Initially launched in 2020 to support restaurants during COVID-19 capacity restrictions, it has become a cherished summer attraction. Mayor Lynne Robinson emphasized the joy outdoor dining spaces bring to residents, calling it an essential community feature. This year, over 40 restaurants are participating, with expanded outdoor dining areas in parking lanes and public spaces. Jesse Canedo, Bellevue’s Chief Economic Development Officer, stated that the program supports the city’s goal of becoming a vibrant dining destination. Positive feedback from local stakeholders has led the city to establish this program as a regular summer occurrence. Additionally, local businesses benefit from increased foot traffic, attracting more customers. The city encourages both businesses and diners to explore available resources on the City of Bellevue and Bellevue Downtown Association websites.
