Announcing the 2022 Placemaking Award Winner Mary's Place
The Bellevue Downtown Association has proudly designated Mary's Place as the 2022 Placemaking Award recipient, honoring their vital role in enriching Downtown Bellevue’s urban landscape. This prestigious award recognizes organizations that enhance community vibrancy, and Mary's Place stands out for its innovative approach to addressing homelessness. Since converting the Silver Cloud Inn into a temporary shelter in December 2021, they have provided essential resources and support for approximately 200 family members in need. Executive Director Marty Hartman highlights the organization's commitment to helping families maintain their community ties while finding safety and housing solutions. Alongside the award announcement, Mary's Place is launching a fundraising campaign called "dream Big," which aims to raise critical funds to sustain their emergency family shelters. With matching contributions from Amazon, this campaign is set to culminate in an event on May 12 at Fisher Pavilion. The award will be formally presented at the Downtown Forward event on April 21, featuring live music and opportunities to connect with community leaders. Join in celebrating this significant achievement and supporting a worthy cause in Bellevue.
