Food Trucks Fellowship Mobile Meal Alliance Program Continues Supporting Families in Need

The Mobile Meal Alliance program at the Bellevue Boys & Girls Club is set to distribute 125 meal vouchers to families in need every other Friday, addressing local food insecurity exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Launched in May 2021, this initiative is a collaboration between Nourishing Networks and the Washington State Food Truck Association, having served over 12,000 meals to date. The program offers families access to nutritious meals and promotes community solidarity as voucher holders line up alongside others for food. Tammy Waddell, a local organizer, highlighted that the program provides dignity to those facing food insecurity, making them feel normal in challenging times. The program relies on donations converted into meal vouchers, and food trucks are scheduled at churches and community centers. Current voucher locations include the Bellevue YMCA and the Bellevue Boys & Girls Club. With the ongoing demand for affordable meals, the Mobile Meal Alliance extends its services into the new year, aiming for greater community support and engagement. This initiative not only addresses immediate food needs but fosters a sense of belonging in the Bellevue community.
