Rapid Transit on I-405? Find out Whats Coming at Sound Transits Online Open House

Sound Transit is set to introduce the Stride Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service along the I-405 corridor by 2024, aiming to provide a faster and more reliable commuting option for residents. The BRT will feature dedicated lanes, specialized vehicles, and efficient bus stations to streamline the travel experience, significantly cutting down commute times—by about 24 minutes from Lynnwood to Bellevue and 17 minutes from Burien. This service will include two new lines, enhancing connectivity between key areas and facilitating transfers to the Link Light Rail. The initiative responds to the increasing congestion and long commute times experienced in the region due to population growth. Community involvement is encouraged through an online open house, which allows residents to share their input on service features until February 14, 2020. By embracing innovative transit solutions, Bellevue aims to improve mobility and reduce reliance on single-occupancy vehicles. The introduction of Stride BRT is a promising development in addressing local transportation needs. Overall, this project is a step towards creating a more efficient and sustainable transit system in the Eastside region.
