SEIJIN-shiki USA Japanese Coming-of-Age Celebration in Bellevue
The 6th SEIJIN-shiki USA, set for January 19, 2025, at the Meydenbauer Center Theatre in Bellevue, Washington, celebrates the Japanese coming-of-age tradition while promoting cultural inclusivity. Organized by the JIA Foundation in partnership with the Consulate General of Japan in Seattle, the event aims to bridge cultural gaps and foster community among young adults. Eligible new SEIJINs, born between 2003 and 2005, will be honored as they embark on their adult journey, with the event conducted entirely in English to ensure accessibility. Attendance is free for new SEIJINs who pre-register, while general public tickets are priced at $10. Additionally, donors contributing $100 or more will receive priority invitations for VIP seating. Participants can look forward to a rich experience featuring inspiring speeches, traditional Kimono presentations, and live performances. Many attendees from previous years have praised the event for its ability to reconnect them with their cultural heritage. Overall, the SEIJIN-shiki USA promises not only to celebrate a significant milestone but also to create lasting friendships among the Class of SEIJIN 2025.
