Bellevue Celebrates Alaska Airlines' New Nonstop Service to Tokyo

Bellevue is preparing for a significant boost in international travel with the announcement of new daily nonstop flights from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport to Tokyo Narita International Airport, set to begin on May 12, 2025. This expansion by Alaska Airlines is expected to add hundreds of daily seats, which will directly benefit the local economy and tourism sector. According to Brad Jones, Executive Director of Visit Bellevue, the city saw a 29% increase in Japanese tourism in 2024 and anticipates an additional 25% growth in 2025 as a result of this new route. Bellevue has taken proactive steps to attract Japanese visitors, including the launch of a Japanese-language website and engaging cultural initiatives featuring Belle the Bobcat. The inaugural flight date coincides with Belle's birthday celebration on May 15, which offers a unique promotional opportunity. Furthermore, Bellevue is positioned as an ideal location for fans attending the FIFA Club World Cup in 2025, with easy access to Seattle and a variety of amenities. The newly established Bellevue Airport Shuttle will also facilitate travel between SEA and key hotels in Bellevue, enhancing visitor convenience. Overall, these developments are set to elevate Bellevue's profile as a desirable destination for international travelers.
