Council Roundup Update on RapidRide K Line to Kirkland

The Bellevue City Council convened to discuss the RapidRide K Line, a transformative bus service anticipated to connect Bellevue and Kirkland by 2030. Metro's proposed 16-mile route aims to enhance accessibility to key destinations, including Bellevue College and Eastgate Park and Ride. The council expressed support for the K Line and considered allowing employer shuttles to use designated BAT lanes, pending changes to state law. In a separate vote, the council backed a ballot proposition for a six-year Medic One/EMS levy, crucial for maintaining emergency medical services throughout the county. Councilmember Janice Zahn announced her impending departure from the council, transitioning to a role in the Washington legislature. The council also proclaimed February 19 as the Day of Action and Remembrance for Japanese American Incarceration, encouraging community involvement. This meeting underscores the council's dedication to improving public transit and honoring historical events. The ongoing engagement with community members highlights the city's commitment to transparency and public participation in local governance.
