Monsoon Bellevue Where Innovative Vietnamese Food Began

Since 1999, Monsoon Bellevue has revolutionized the perception of Vietnamese cuisine in Seattle, thanks to the vision of siblings Sophie and Eric Banh. Known for its innovative approach, the restaurant features a diverse menu inspired by the flavors of Saigon, including popular dishes like bò lá lốt and catfish claypot. Their success has not only earned them accolades but also allowed for the expansion of a second location and the creation of Ba Bar, which focuses on street food and cocktails. Longtime employee Jon Christiansen highlights the restaurant's role in changing local attitudes toward Asian cuisine, illustrating its significance in the community. Monsoon's dedication to quality ingredients and seasonal dishes ensures a consistently excellent dining experience for both new and returning customers. The restaurant also emphasizes social responsibility by partnering with local organizations to give back, a mission close to the founders' hearts as former refugees. Currently, they are collaborating with David Hill Winery to support Mary’s Place through a community partner program. Monsoon’s welcoming atmosphere and commitment to innovation make it a cherished dining destination in the Pacific Northwest.
