Bellevue Fire Chief Takes Role in Montana
Bellevue Fire Chief Jay Hagen has accepted a new role as fire chief in Kalispell, Montana, with his last day in Bellevue set for April 25, 2025. Since 2018, Hagen has significantly impacted the Bellevue Fire Department through community engagement and innovative safety measures, including the establishment of the Bellevue Fire CARES team. City Manager Diane Carlson expressed gratitude for Hagen’s contributions and appointed Deputy Chief Dave Tait as the interim fire chief, citing his 28 years of dedicated service within the department. Tait’s background includes various roles, from firefighter to deputy chief, and he has received awards for his commitment to integrity and public service. Under Hagen’s leadership, the Bellevue Fire Department implemented data-driven strategies to enhance its operations and service delivery. The department serves a large population and has mutual aid agreements that extend its reach to over 201,000 community members. Hagen reflected on his nearly seven-year tenure with pride, emphasizing the strong support from city leadership and the community. As Tait steps into the interim role, the department is poised to maintain its high standards of service.
