City offers 150,000 for projects that activate public spaces

The City of Bellevue has introduced a significant $150,000 initiative designed to invigorate public spaces through community-led programming. The 2025 Community Programming Fund will offer up to $100,000 for multiple projects along the Grand Connection corridor, which stretches from Meydenbauer Bay Park through downtown Bellevue to Eastrail. Additionally, $50,000 is earmarked for activities in various public spaces throughout the city. Projects seeking funding can apply for amounts up to $15,000, with a focus on outdoor events that foster community engagement. Examples of potential activities include live music performances, vendor fairs, and pop-up art installations. Mayor Lynne Robinson expressed that this initiative is pivotal for creating vibrant, inclusive spaces that reflect the creativity and diversity of Bellevue's residents. Applications are open from April 1 until July 28, 2025, or until the funds are exhausted. Individuals, nonprofit organizations, and community groups are encouraged to apply and contribute to the city’s vision of active public spaces.
