Rouge Cocktail Lounge has emerged as a new speakeasy bar in Old Bellevue, offering an art deco-inspired space with elegant decor and a menu featuring small French bites and New Orleans-inspired cocktails. Owners Mary and Chris Kenney drew inspiration from their time in New York, where they enjoyed the vibrant speakeasy culture, and they felt Bellevue needed a similar gathering place. After initially planning to open in April 2020, the couple delayed their launch to prioritize health and safety during the pandemic, officially welcoming guests on November 3, 2021. The lounge also features a dedicated performance area with a vintage piano, with plans for regular live music to enhance the atmosphere. Kenney's background in dance and choreography informs the entertainment offerings, with themed performances complementing the menu. The owners aim to create a safe environment for patrons to enjoy music and reconnect with loved ones. Rouge represents a significant addition to the local nightlife scene, contributing to the Heart of Bellevue initiative that supports local businesses. The Kenneys express gratitude for their dedicated staff and are committed to providing a memorable experience for the community.
