Overcoming Uncertainties Bellevue Farmers Market Returns May 13

The Bellevue Farmers Market (BFM) is set to reopen on May 13, 2021, marking its 17th season after navigating a year of uncertainties due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In an interview, Liz Paruchuru, the market engagement manager, elaborated on the new health protocols established in partnership with state and county health departments to ensure safety for all participants. Vendors have had to adapt to various challenges, including loss of restaurant business and operational disruptions from COVID-19 and wildfires. Nevertheless, BFM remains committed to supporting local vendors and will host 35 vendors this season, including food trucks and new offerings like a microgreen vendor. To enhance the shopping experience, the market will implement safety measures such as required masks, one-way foot traffic, and options for contactless pre-ordering. The return of the popular Kid's POP Club is also anticipated, aiming to offer engaging activities to over 750 children. BFM is proud to be the only Eastside farmers market that accepts EBT and matches customers' dollars to help increase purchasing power. The market runs every Thursday from May 13 to October 7, 2021.
