Bellevues fleet ranks among the best in North America
Bellevue's vehicle fleet earned a #22 ranking in North America from the National Association of Fleet Administrators, the top position for any organization in Washington state. This accolade celebrates the city's commitment to environmental responsibility through electric vehicle adoption and anti-idling strategies. City Manager Diane Carlson noted that the recognition validates Bellevue's investments in sustainability and reflects the dedication of the fleet operations team. The city's fleet consists of nearly 1,000 vehicles, including fire engines and utility trucks, with plans to enhance charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. Bellevue aims to convert half of its light-duty fleet to electric by 2030 and achieve full electrification by 2040. The award also acknowledges Bellevue's emphasis on financial sustainability and staff development in fleet management. This proactive approach contributes to the city's reputation as a high-performance organization.
